Artist Statement
Katrina Roberts is a commercial photographer based in Chicago Illinois. With a city that is packed with a wide variety of subjects, it is her experiences in the restaurant industry and transportation that have influenced her the most.
Her current work focuses on food photography that describes the visual elements of a dish; the environment and composition. Katrina uses her attention to detail and sense of space to capture the beauty of the dish and assist in telling it's story.
An ongoing personal project features images of the elevated public transportation system and descriptions of its form and place in the city of Chicago. These man-made structures create engaging perspectives and patterns that are constantly battling against the elements and heavy use. While it moves people forward it also retains a bit of the past, allowing these images to capture a small moment of the city's history.
